In images: First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon has resigned
The world was rocked by tragedy this week as two major earthquakes struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, killing over 41,000 people and leaving thousands more injured. In Adiyaman, Turkey, the Syriac Orthodox Mor Peter and Mor Paul Church reopened in 2011 was rendered unusable after the quake. In Hatay, a woman waited in vain for her family members among the rubble of her home. Meanwhile, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality personnel serve aboard a ferry ship that serves as temporary aid center and shelter for earthquake victims. In Kolkata, India, the Kolkata heritage Tram celebrated its 150 years anniversary while Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Dhruv' type helicopters performed at Aero India 2023. Indian Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas also showcased its supersonic capabilities at the event. Finally in Athens, Greece performing arts students marched through the city to demand withdrawal of a presidential decree while in Edinburgh Nicola Sturgeon resigned from SNP after eight years as leader.
