On a mission from his God – Chief Justice Mogoeng’s message to South Africa: ‘We are bewitched’
Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng is on his way out, as his term comes to an end in October. And on Wednesday, the Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa made sure he did so with some good old New Testament fire and brimstone.
In Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng’s almost three-hour “message to South Africa” at the Vosloorus Kingdom Covenant Assembly on Wednesday, there were claims that God had promised to make him “the most influential Chief Justice the world has ever seen”, that he had been divinely chosen to the position and that he was now ready to go to war against the forces of evil.
The “greatest revival ever in the history of the Earth” was about to happen, he prophesied, and South Africa was soon set to become its epicentre – “the glory bowl of revival” – spreading then to the rest of the continent and the world.
Whether this was the Chief Justice’s launch into his new life as an “anointed one”, only God knows.
Mogoeng began his fiery address with the New Testament apocalyptic favourite, the Book of Revelation, and a trippy tale about a red dragon with seven heads who stood before a woman giving birth, just waiting to devour the child (Rev 12: 1-5).
“Who has bewitched us?” he asked.
The Chief Justice said the Bible text had been “given to him by God” to read so he was just going to go ahead and we were to make of it what we must or will.
He then skipped to the Book of Kings and the tale of Jezebel, the divider wife of Ahab.
The moral of their story, of course, is not to ignore prophets, and in Mogoeng’s eyes (and those of his fellow saints and anointees present on Wednesday) this is what he is, like Daniel, opined one of those gathered at the start.
Do watch the entire three hours, we may have missed a huge amount, not having internalised this world of wizards and snakes, devils and assorted abominations working through other people who were enemies of God.
The red dragon of earlier, said Mogoeng could be spotted all over the provinces – “you can see for yourself”.
“This country, this continent and other nations of the Earth are being manipulated, deceived, taken advantage of by a great red dragon,” said Mogoeng.
“Before you know it, resources are gone, taken by the one who is just waiting for the baby to be born. It is part of trying to devour the baby before it even comes out.”
Which led into a stream of consciousness about the levels of immorality in South Africa being unprecedented.
“Those with the critical power and authority to turn the situation around have to deal with the great red dragon and Jezebel and Rahab [the harlot, apparently] and the Queen of Heaven who have connected at Cape Agulhas and indulged in their sexual immorality, unimaginable perversion! Shedding innocent blood while we are all watching with all the keys, all the instruments, all authority God has given to us!”
Jezebel had “broadcast stories, on radio, on television about an innocent soul” (apparently a man killed for his inheritance) and was as responsible for his death as were the “worshippers of the media”.
People today wanted to amend the Bible or interpret it to suit the modern world, but they were doing the devil’s work.
He said there was a “fierce war in South Africa and across the nations of the world” between “the dragon, the leviathan, Rahab, the Queen of Heaven, Mammon, Belial, and any other form that the enemy may wish to assume in order to achieve his objective.
“I say it with all sense of humility, no man can stop me from doing what I want to do, only God can!” the Chief Justice proclaimed.
“Who is big enough to call us together?” he asked. DM

Just a note to the writer: the Book of Revelation is in the New Testament. “the Old Testament apocalyptic favourite” appears to imply the opposite.

Is there a special asylum for ex Chief Justices? With judicial brains like this it’s no wonder the country is on the road to hell.
He was judged as a nutter when he first declared he had been chosen by God, but became a hero when he dealt with Zuma. All was forgotten, which shows that the enemy of your enemy should not necessarily become your friend, although we are often misled by that. One more requisite for the new CJ. NO adherents of any religion please.

A person’s personal religious beliefs should not be relevant to the appointment of the Chief Justice but should not be allowed to trump their judicial suitability for the appointment.
Great piece – almost enough to tempt me to click through to sample some of the three hours of alarming drivel. How on earth did the man ever produce a coherent judgment?
Incidentally, if you ever have the misfortune to have to refer to the Book of Revelation again, it’s the last book in the New Testament (the part about Jesus), rather than the old.
Revelations is New Testament, not Old. Please DM, get the basics right.

I just love the ‘in all humility’ part! There isn’t a jot of humility in anything he said! His theology is so flawed but, sadly, there are hundreds of people who are taken in by this kind of Christianity and will love those three hours!
We thank God for the above message, God using His vessel of honor. May we SA come to our senses and see what God is doing in our mist. This is time for the church to arise and not to align itsself with the systems of the world. The churc has to lead. We see Satan manipulating the whole world, using media to preach his message. We thank this Media for being truthful as well in the mist of Media that preaches satans plans. The old serpent with all its pricipalities was defeated on the cross. South Africa will be revived again and follow in the foosteps of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, who finished the work. We will stand on the finished work of calvary. SA is currently sick but it will arise as a Rainbow Nation to its destiny invJesus Name. We see with our own eyes the works of Satan through the whole world, deception which goes very fast, that people they do not even reason, they will wake up late, but we trust God that He will deliver His people from slumber.
Arise church, the glory of God is upon you. Evil now is on its peak but the Spirit of the living God will raise up the standard. We thank God for His message through you. May God unite His body, and encourage each person to stand in his/her position, rather than judging other children of God. We will be seen by loving one another that we are the disciples of Christ. the man may be a hatter, but it is quite clear that we have a global morality issue. Reference the levels of corruption and other crime in SA, as well as the rest of the world.
I will also recommend Red Dragon, the psychological thriller film based on the 1981 novel by Thomas Harris. Not as violent as the fictional book mentioned in the article, but always a treat to watch Anthony Hopkins portray the iconic character of Hannibal Lector.

Oh my God! Can you imagine a new “Rescue SA” party run by former president Zuma, former head of the SABC, Hlaudi Moetsoneng, about to be former chief justice Mogoeng Mogoeng? Actually, come to think of it, it probably would not be a whole lot worse than what we have now with Ramaphosa saying one thing while – sleight of hand – doing the opposite. Telling us all he’s cleaning up and appointing a bunch of crooks and con-artists to cabinet!

The judiciary, as I understand, demands evidence and proof as the key to justice.
As a observer of men in cloaks and pointy hats, I am truly facinated by the comments from the highest court judge quoting from a religious book without any evidence.
Religions have two things in common. Their gods are invisible and they are all man made.
So we, the non believers are indeed perplexed when the supreme keeper of justice presents Revelation myths to warn against any scientific solution available in the current crisis.
Surely you know that even the most highly read scholars still debate who the actual author of the sneaked in last book of the bible is.
Personally I will can not trust the judgement of anybody who utters such unsubstantiated nonsense.
Who cares about ‘evidence’ – just ask Dali (or Trump for that matter!) … they just invent it !
Telling people, regardless of their level of education or experience, what they want to hear, especially when accompanied with charisma and theatre, is very powerful. Sadly, evidence and science is irrelevant to forming strong beliefs. Been like this for millenia and not going to change any time soon. It is the most dangerous and significant barrier to human advancement and enlightenment.
If he were alive today, Emperor Constantine would hardly believe that his attempt through the Council of Nicaea to calm the streets of the Roman Empire could possibly have resulted in such unmitigated drivel nearly 2,000 years later. Maybe Mogoeng should consider entering the new world, understanding that this apocalyptic, bronze age nonsense was written by superstitious and uneducated ‘pseudo-prophets’. It boggles the mind to believe that he holds such sinister piffle with even the slightest regard – thankfully he is shortly exiting his post!

Moeogoe’s comments – not the first – firmly establish him as en entirely inappropriate judge, let alone chief justice of the concert.
May be he is mad; maybe he has, in fact, been called. But either way, he constitutes an embarrassment, and yet more evidence that SA is burrowing into the rabbit hole.
Mogoeng mixed both Old and New Testament references in the sermon, if reported accurately. Revelation is the only book of the NT that really gets going on the ‘fire and brimstone’ (if you ignore the more misogynistic frothings in St Paul’s epistles), and the other books quoted are definitely OT.
