You need to be a **[First Thing Subscriber.](https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/about/newsletter/)**When you're subscribed and ready, there'll be a link to submit your own pics in the Picture of the Day section. **Guidelines:** we try to be as inclusive as possible when publishing your fantastic photos. However, if you can, please try orient your camera horizontally ('landscape' format) and please, *please*, try send us as high resolution a photo as possible. Tucker shipwreck Cape Point National Park. The so-called liberty ship, built by the United States during World War II to carry troops and weapons, wrecked on these rocks in 1942, as she was sailing close to the Cape Point coastline in an attempt to avoid detection by German U-boats.
