Street Talk: Corruption – Is It Up to Us?  (Video)
Participants of this film, from left to right: Mark Heywood (Editor of Maverick Citizen) and Tebogo Ditini (founder of #AGender Movement), and William Gumede (Professor of Governance at Wits., Ex editor of the Sowetan).

We keep waiting for someone to do something about corruption in South Africa. The ruling party looks after the ruling party, and takes the resources out of South Africans' mouths. The abuse of power is evident. The question is - who's to blame? The government themselves? Or perhaps it's on us? The voters. "If the ANC does to us what the apartheid did to us, then we need to do what the ANC did to apartheid". - Nelson Mandela.

MavericKids vol 3

How can a child learn to read if they don't have a book?

As the school year starts again, thousands of children will not have the basics (like books) to learn from.

81% of children aged 10 cannot read for meaning in South Africa.

For every copy of MavericKids sold from the Daily Maverick shop, we will donate a copy to Gift of the Givers for learners in need. If you don't have a child in your life, you can donate both copies.

Small effort, big impact.
