Payment freeze could leave Prasa without attorneys in R6bn court battle

The beleaguered Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa will be in court early 2020 to try to set aside questionable contracts worth almost R6-billion. If Prasa loses this case, it would have to settle almost R3-billion in unpaid invoices from a dodgy contractor linked to Zuma benefactor Roy Moodley and former Prasa CEO Lucky Montana. While the outcome could financially cripple it, Prasa may have to enter this all-important legal fray without lawyers — it has stopped paying its service providers.
