‘Danny Jordaan raped me’: Singer Jennifer Ferguson urges others to speak up
By REBECCA DAVIS
Inspired by a social media campaign encouraging women to share their experiences of sexual assault, singer and former ANC MP Jennifer Ferguson came forward on Wednesday to claim that she was raped by current South African Football Association boss Danny Jordaan in 1993. Ferguson says she can no longer keep silent about the abuses of power by influential men.
On Wednesday night SAA’s chairperson and single worst nightmare had been shown the door. It’s difficult to believe that Myeni is truly gone. Having spent years destroying the national airline’s finances, she will be replaced by Johannes “JB” Magwaza. Myeni’s departure may be a sign that, even under the Zuma kleptocracy, there are limits to the levels of incompetence one person can exhibit (excepting Sassa, that is).
Trump’s soldier disrespect causes controversy
The pregnant widow of a soldier killed in an ambush in Niger has revealed that President Donald Trump told the family their son “knew what he was signing up for”. Trump, of course, denied making the comments, saying he had proof to the contrary. Sergeant La David Johnson’s widow Myeshia reportedly burst into tears after the call, saying “he didn’t even know his name”.
A man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of three people and the wounding of two others. Radee Prince was arrested as he fled the scene in Delaware, close to the set of the series House of Cards. The motive is as yet unknown, but police believed that the killings were targeted.
Flower halo effect lures in bees
Researchers have revealed how hundreds of plant types have developed the ability to project an ethereal halo of blue light to attract bees. The pollination illumination may sound like something out of a sci-fi movie, but experiments showed that synthetic flowers designed to create the same blue halos attracted bumblebees. It’s all invisible to your puny, weak human eyes, however.
