Three weeks after the Guptas’ private email correspondence began cascading into the public domain, revealing the depth of the capture of the South African state, we are yet to see outrage and a fightback from the ANC. The party elected to govern by South African people, but now essentially cuckolded by the Guptas, has shown it is powerless against the family. The Guptas appear to be still pushing buttons behind the scenes and their main focus is to ensure that they stack the deck at the ANC’s 54th national conference, mostly to secure their new Number One.
Vehicle ramming kills one in London
One person was arrested following a vehicle ramming outside a mosque in Finsbury Park overnight. One person has died and several have been injured in the attack, being targeted deliberately as they left the local mosque. A local human rights NGO noted that there had been a sharp rise recently in anti-Muslim hate crimes.
Britain and the EU are set to begin the long process of Brexit negotiations today. Britain, now reeling from post-election disunity, could not be in a weaker negotiating position if it tried. Brexit minister David Davis noted that he was looking to secure “a deal like no other in history”. His counterparts in Brussels, meanwhile, might think otherwise.

India’s captain Virat Kohli has acknowledged that the pressure created by Pakistan’s bowlers were just too much, resulting in a stunning Champion’s Trophy result for the latter. Pakistan stunned the world with an impressive 180-run victory over India, showing a stellar performance in batting and bowling.
