Search continues for woman missing on Table Mountain

Cape Town – The search for a woman who went missing while hiking up Table Mountain's Platteklip Gorge on Tuesday continues, rescue officials said on Wednesday.

Wilderness Search and Rescue spokesperson Johann Marais said a Skymed helicopter would undertake a search for the 51-year-old woman on Wednesday.

The woman went missing on Tuesday after hiking up Platteklip Gorge around midday. It is believed she SMSed her husband at 13:00, saying she would be hiking back, but was not heard from again.

“SANParks rangers were sent to patrol through the night. We also sent people up and down that area early this morning. Groups heading up are also being made aware to look out for her,” Marais said. DM
