STORY OF THE DAY

[SARS Wars: Tom Moyane next under the Spotlight](http://email.touchbasepro.com/t/d-l-djhlhyy-l-u/)

By MARIANNE THAMM

Staff at the SARS compound headquarters in Nieuw Muckleneuk, Pretoria, sat glued to their television screens on Monday during NPA head Shaun Abrahams’s “impromptu” press conference announcing he had reviewed fraud and theft charges against Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan, former acting SARS Commissioner Ivan Pillay and Commissioner Oupa Magashula. Two weeks ago it was one of their colleagues, Vlok Symington, SARS deputy director for law, who was held hostage in a boardroom in the same complex while senior Hawks officials tried to retrieve an incriminating e-mail revealing that SARS’ own lawyers were opposed to the prosecutions. Symington is the accidental hero of this shameful saga, which is far from over. By MARIANNE THAMM.

WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING

[Clinton's emails have little affect on polls](http://email.touchbasepro.com/t/d-l-djhlhyy-l-o/)

The latest poll to emerge following renewed FBI interest in Hillary Clinton's emails has indicated little shift in voter opinion. Donald Trump has embarked on a final Hail Mary tour of blue states to undermine Clinton's lead. Huffing the fumes of the email scandal, it appears voter fatigue is a key contributor to everyone simply not giving a damn about the emails anymore.

[CNN analyst fired over WikiLeaks scandal](http://email.touchbasepro.com/t/d-l-djhlhyy-l-b/)

CNN has fired Donna Brazile, a prominent political commentator on the cable network. This was the result of a WikiLeaks release showing Brazile was often in contact with Hillary Clinton, sending her questions before the network's shows. To CNN's credit, Brazile was fired the moment the leak occurred, but the lack of computer literacy in the Clinton camp is beginning to approach the stupendous.

[Douglas reveals Kilmer has cancer](http://email.touchbasepro.com/t/d-l-djhlhyy-l-n/)

Michael Douglas has revealed this his co-star and longstanding friend, Val Kilmer, is suffering from oral cancer. Kilmer previously denied any problems with his health, saying that he was perfectly fine. If Douglas is correct, the 56-year-old Maverick is anything but.

[Injured Starc to lead Aussies](http://email.touchbasepro.com/t/d-l-djhlhyy-l-p/)

Strike bowler Mitchell Starc will lead the Australian charge against South Africa in the upcoming Test match on Thursday, despite an injury. Starc collided with training equipment, resulting in deep gashes and 30 stitches to his knee. Starc will sport a brace, and possibly refloat a fledgling Australian team.
