Police fire rubber bullets at rock throwing Wits students
Johannesburg - Police opened fire with rubber bullets on rock throwing Wits University students on Tuesday afternoon outside the institution's Great Hall.
Students gathered at the foot of the steps to the building and lobbed projectiles at the security guards who formed a human chain at the doors.
Police then opened fire with rubber bullets and teargas to disperse the students.
On Monday some students ran rampage in the streets of Braamfontein. They started fires, burnt a bus, and looted shops.
Police fired rubber bullets out of the vehicles, and several bystanders, including a priest, were injured in Monday’s chaos.
