Tuesday was a second day of violence on the Wits campus in Johannesburg as students protested against higher education minister Blade Nzimande’s offer of no fee increase for the poor but not the rich. By Ihsaan Haffejee for GROUNDUP.

University of Witwatersrand students have been protesting since Blade Nzimande, the Minister of  Higher Education, announced that universities could implement a fee increase of up to 8% for the 2017 academic year. From their side, students are demanding free education.

Students  threw  rocks at the  private security guards.
