Some of these facts have been obfuscated in the years of legal ducking and diving around Nkandla. Just two documents in the more than 12,000 pages released provide 20/20 clarity in hindsight. Four security personnel, who perished in the blast, prevented the suicide bomber from entering the mosque. Another suicide bombing in Qatif was reported as well. Internally displaced people in Monguno, in Borno state, were the target of the attempted attack. Nigerian security forces were able to shoot two of the three suspects, with the third's explosives detonating prematurely an hour later.
