On Monday the University of Witwatersrand's Ruth First Memorial Lecture attracted a record number of people eager to hear Panashe Chigumadzi and Sisonke Msimang, who performed with poet Lebo Mashile, speak on issues of race. Before the event, the Daily Maverick Show on CliffCentral sat down with Msimang to discuss writing, growing up in exile and her speech, The politics of friendship in post-apartheid South Africa.
