Soros donates $1m to marijuana campaign

Financier George Soros has given $1 million to the campaign to legalise marijuana in California. On 2 November Californians will vote on whether to pass Proposition 19, which will make it legal for people to grow the medicinal herb (in small amounts) at home. "Regulating and taxing marijuana would simultaneously save taxpayers billions of dollars in enforcement and incarceration costs, while providing many billions of dollars in revenue annually," Soros wrote in an opinion piece in the Wall Street journal.
