US to investigate China’s rare earth shipments

Trade officials in the US are investigating whether China has imposed an embargo on rare earth exports. The New York Times reported that restrictions on rare earth shipments were widened on Monday, but the Chinese ministry of commerce has vehemently denied this. Rare earths are a vital component of green technology, and China mines 97% of the global supply. Read more: BBC News
