China affirms commitment to one-child policy

China will continue its one-child policy for the foreseeable future, Li Bin, the head of the National Population and Family Planning Commission told Chinese media on Monday. Chinese couples are allowed one child if they are city-based and two if they live in a rural area. The policy was instituted in 1978. Read more: Sapa, News24
