False ceiling collapses at Commonwealth Games stadium

A day after a suspension pedestrian overbridge crashed at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, a portion of the stadium's false ceiling collapsed directly onto the Weightlifting Arena. The collapse was reportedly caused by the weight of data cables that had been placed on the false ceiling. Cabinet Secretary KM Chandreshekhar told reporters that it "is not a matter to be worried about". Reports did not indicate whether the weightlifters and other athletes shared Chandreshekhar's nonchalance. Read more: The Times of India and The Economic Times
