Samwu to strike in Gauteng on Friday

It's official: municipal workers are downing tools in solidarity with striking public workers, according to a union spokesperson. The mass action is limited to Gauteng, for now. But, the union warned, if government does not knuckle under and give the public servants what they want, their solidarity strike could spread to other provinces. About the small matter of seven-days notice before going on strike, Samwu said there was no need to warn the employers timeously, as they had not dispute with them. Read more: TimesLive.
