Court blocks stem cell research in the US

A federal court has temporarily blocked Obama's administration from increasing funding for embryonic stem cell (ESC) research. The judge agreed with researchers who said that (ESC) research necessarily means the death of an embryo. Obama lifted George Bush's ban on (ESC) research in May, but the judge said that lawsuits against the new stem cell guidelines could now go ahead. Read more: New Scientist and BBC News.
