Former US Senator Ted Stevens believed to be on crashed plane

Former US Senator from Alaska, Ted Stevens, is believed to have been in a plane that crashed with seven other people in Alaska today, authorities say. Rescuers were still trying to reach the crash site, but an Alaska National Guard spokesperson said five people were already on site, though it is unclear how they got there. Stevens' condition is unknown. Stevens was the longest serving Republican senator in history, but was lost his seat in 2008 after being convicted of corruption (he was later acquitted on a technicality). Read more: The NY Times
