Teachers threaten to go on strike, maybe

The SA Democratic Teachers Union has said the majority of its members are unhappy with the government's offer of a 6.5% wage increase (plus a R500 housing allowance) and that most of them want to go on strike. The teachers are demanding a 8.6% increase and a R1,000 housing allowance. The union says the consultation process will continue until Wednesday, and that a strike could happen the week after next.  Read more: Times Live
