Petraeus confirmed as new Afghanistan commander

On Wednesday the Senate voted unanimously to confirm General David Petraeus as the new commander of American forces in Afghanistan. Petraeus replaces General Stanley McChrystal, who was fired after his disparaging remarks about top White House officials were published in Rolling Stone magazine.Petraeus could be take up his post in Kabul as early as Friday.
