NUM votes for Eskom strike next week

Members of the National Union of Mineworks (NUM) have voted to embark on strike action at Eskom next week, if their wage demands are not met. The union has asked for a 9% increase and a R2,000 housing allowance, while Eskom has offered a 8.5% increase and a R1,000 housing allowance. Eskom HR managing director Bhabhalazi Bulungu said that if the strike did go ahead Eskom "will take measures to ensure the security of the supply". Read more: M&G
