Senator Byrd hospitalised in Washington

Democratic senator Robert Byrd is ill in hospital. The 92-year-old's condition has been described as "serious", although no further details are available. Byrd's vote could be crucial in passing the Obama administration's financial reform bill, so his fellow Democrats will be hoping he gets well soon. Read more: Reuters
