Safe Abby Sunderland says age has nothing to do with freak waves
Safe aboard a French fishing boat, albeit still in the middle of the ocean, would-be solo circumnavigator Abby Sunderland said her little yacht trip came to an end not because she is only 16, but because bad waves happen. She had to be rescued after her mast snapped, and criticism about allowing a wee young thing out alone on the ocean is already mounting. And everyone will have plenty of opportunity to discuss it among themselves; though she's in radio and online contact, it will be a week or so until her new ride makes it to landfall. AP
