Mugabe to attend World Cup opening ceremony

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe will attend the World Cup opening ceremony at Soccer City on Friday. The South African government defended its decision to invite Mugabe, despite his travel bans in Europe and US, stating that all African heads of state had been invited. However, leaders from Madagascar, Guinea and Niger didn't make the grade, because they came to power via coups. We guess Uncle Bob cracked a nod because of the fair and democratic elections in his country then? Read more: AFP
