Demos continue throughout the weekend

Danish police detained more than 200 people on Sunday as demonstrations continued at the Copenhagen climate summit, even as the world’s ministers met to move forward towards a new global climate agreement. Churches around the world joined in to make a point about greenhouse gases and bells rang 350 times, symbolic of the parts per million of carbon dioxide considered safe.  In Copenhagen, police stopped one demonstration headed toward the city’s harbour. Checking demonstrators, police say they found bolt-cutters and gas masks when they searched a truck leading demonstrators. Some 200 were detained.  Detainees over two days of demonstrations have included people from throughout Europe, the US, Kenya, Japan, Mongolia, China and Turkey. For more, read the AP
