Multiple bombs kill at least 121 people in Baghdad

Multiple car bombs have killed at least 121 people and wounded hundreds more. Five bombs, including several suicide attacks, went off near a college, a court, a mosque, a market and housing near the Iraqi interior ministry. The explosions happened over an hour in the morning. These attacks took place as the Iraqi government had announced the date –  5 March 2010 – for the country’s parliamentary elections.  Prospective candidates blamed Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s government for continuing to fail to provide security in the capital.
