GM fails to sell Saab, seeks Plan B

Reports indicate that General Motors' talks to sell its Saab business unit have failed. So, GM must now decide whether to keep the Swedish carmaker, try to sell it again or wind it down. GM is said to have a contingency plan for Saab similar to a process being used to wind down its troubled Saturn unit, whereby Saab owners would continue to be covered by GM warranties and service agreements. Unlike Saturn, in which GM copied the idea of small, fuel-efficient Japanese cars, Saab is seen as a luxury brand that GM seemingly managed to drive off the road. Read more: The Atlantic
