Former guerilla likely winner in Uruguay’s presidential run-off

Jose Mujica, a former leftist guerrilla, is heavily favoured to win Uruguay's presidential run-off election on Sunday, keeping a centre-left coalition in power for five more years. While his opponents claim Mujica would turn Uruguay into a radical socialist nation, he has, in fact, campaigned as a consensus builder, and polls indicate most voters believe he would govern from the centre. He leads polling by 7% to 9% over his opponent, Luis Lacalle, a former president. For more, read the AP
