New health reform bill in Senate
Democratic Senate majority leader Harry Reid has offered the latest version of the health care bill that he says has been crafted to meet US President Barack Obama's goal of expanding coverage, but without adding to the federal government’s deficit. Reid met on Wednesday with vice president Joe Biden to set the game plan for the bill in their attempt to gain passage through the Senate by winning over a group of reluctant moderate Democrats. There is no rule requiring strict party-line voting in the American Senate. Reid hopes to bring the $900 billion, 10-year health care remake to the floor for debate and a vote in the next few days.
