Super-secret copyright treaty leaks; Disney now owns the interweb

If a new treaty is passed in its current form – and if leaks this week are accurate – then internet service providers are about to become copyright police at the beck-end call of media companies. The internet-related section of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement, on which a number of governments are working under conditions of strict secrecy, apparently establishes broad third-party liability for copyright infringement. The effect: you post a cute drawing your daughter made of Mickey Mouse on your blog, Disney complains to your internet provider, which is obliged to remove the image and, possibly, disconnect your from the internet entirely if you do anything similar two more times.
