For the first time in two years, General Motors executives have reason to smile once more. It was reported on Tuesday that the notoriously saturated sales of GM cars in the US had grown 4.7% over October 2008 and 13% more than in September 2009. And the good news didn’t stop there: Ford (3%) and Toyota (1%) sales were also better than in 2008. The bad news, however, was brought by the poor cousin, Chrysler, with sales coming 30% below last October. The Daily Maverick feels it will take an extraordinary reversal in Chrysler’s fortunes for the legendary company to survive beyond 2010. Read more: AP
