US bars Kenya’s attorney general
After leaving people guessing, the Kenyan government official handed a travel ban by Washington last month is the country’s attorney general, Amos Wako, according to the US. Wako was high on the list for not cracking down on corruption during his 18-year tenure. International donors want steps taken to avoid a repeat of violence surrounding last year’s elections, in which some 1,300 people died and many more were made homeless. Amid endemic political corruption in Kenya and rampant police graft. Washington is considering similar action against three other prominent Kenyans. Read more: Reuters, The Washington Post
