Mugabe engages in double-speak on unity government

Robert Mugabe has slammed the opposition Movement for Democratic Change’s recent “disengagement” from the country’s unity government as "baffling and illogical", weeks after police arrested senior MDC member, Roy Bennett, on terrorism charges. A former farmer, Bennett was supposed to be sworn in as a new deputy agriculture minister, which is a very touchy portfolio in Zimbabwe. Mugabe says he is working to resolve the political dispute, calling it a domestic problem, despite mediation efforts by the 15-nation Southern African Development Community. Sounds more like “disengagement” by Mugabe’s Zanu-PF mob. Read more: Reuters, M&G
