Compromise health care plan poised for “OK” from House of Reps

Liberals in the US House of Representatives are now apparently poised to accept a compromise bill on health care reform. If it passes the House, it becomes a giant step forward in answering Barack Obama’s pledge for an overhaul in the health system. The Senate still has to pass its final bill and then there is the conference committee between the two houses of Congress to wait for. It appears liberals are now willing to accept a weaker than hoped for version of a government-run health care insurance option. House floor debate may start next week on a bill extending coverage to 96% of Americans, adding requirements on individuals and employers to get insurance and providing subsidies for lower-income people, as well as adding a new public insurance plan.
