British refuse to pay yacht couple’s Somali kidnappers

The British government says it won’t pay a $7-million ransom to Somali pirates who kidnapped a British couple in mid-Indian Ocean. And now the Foreign Office has set the couple even more adrift by refusing to advise relatives on how to do so. The couple were sailing to Tanzania from the Seychelles when abducted to the Somali mainland by pirates, with their yacht found by naval vessels in international waters. Now they and their relatives are part of a much bigger game. It will be a nail-biting time of real-politik. Read more: BBC, BBC
