US slaps travel ban on senior Kenyan official

After months of threats, the US has slapped a travel ban on a senior Kenyan government official accused of obstructing efforts to carry out reforms after 1,300 people died in post-election violence in 2008. The US state department says it is considering bans on a further three officials. Washington and its Western allies want to sideline some of the country’s most corrupt politicians, but the US has been treading softly, as it relies on Kenya to help fight Islamist militants in neighbouring Somalia.Read more: BBC
