Nokia really, really, emphatically dislikes Apple
So much so, it’s decided to sue its Californian nemesis that came out of nowhere with its damn sexy iPhone and is about to steal Nokia's lunch. And it filed a patent-infringement suit against Apple in US District Court of Delaware. The suit claims Apple used 10 of Nokia's patents in wireless data, speech coding, security and encryption on iPhone, since it was introduced in 2007. Should Nokia be successful, the damages claimed could be substantial as Nokia alleges it took the company 20 years and $60 billion dollars to develop all the patents. It has already licensed them to 40 companies around the world, but claims Apple walked away when presented with the licensing structure. It is very early to speculate who will win, but the outcome could have a lasting influence on the future of the mobile world.Read more: The New York Times, BusinessWeek
