McDonald’s does well in the tough times, indeed

People will always want to eat their transfats, especially when the recession bites. The tough times in the US brought customers back to the Mac's greasy gates again, while many other food companies struggled in the last quarter, the quarter-pounder-with-cheese company increased sales 6% over the same period last year, a pretty astronomical figure for the US economy at the moment. It probably helped that it introduced somewhat less artery-clogging third-pound Angus burgers  as well as espresso shots. As the profits hit $1.26 billion, it is still proceeding with caution, noting that the US October sales are looking much weaker and that the last quarter could be less than stellar. The growth will, however, probably be helped by the ever-growing European sales. Read more: BusinessWeek
