Cele’s R3.4 million house ensures new govt expenditure outrage

Afrikaans paper Beeld is reporting that the SA Police Service has approved R3.4 million for the purchase of a new official residence for Bheki Cele, recently appointed as chief of the service. The big problem? There is an existing residence available to him, but that somewhat modest dwelling is in a far less fashionable suburb. There seems to be some confusion about whether the new house is to be Cele's private residence, whether there even is an existing official residence and so on; issues Beeld does a good job painting as amateurish attempt at a cover-up.
