Implats fires the boss; says it never liked him in the first place

There has been "tension" between the executives at Impala Platinum and their supposed boss, chairman Fred Roux for a couple of months. On Thursday the board fired Roux after he refused to give up the job he's held for five years. Most interesting is not the reasons for the spat, but the fact that the whole thing is playing out in public. There were no statements about "mutual decisions" and "spending time with the family". Both Roux and CEO David Brown said they hadn't been getting along and that there had been strain; refreshingly honest stuff. Read: Business Day
