Name of Mandela used in vain

The good name of Nelson Mandela is again being used for purposes of someone else’s vanity. The South African elder statesman has denied that he wrote a foreword attributed to him in a book by Congo Republic President Denis Sassou-Nguesso. The Mandela Foundation said it would take appropriate action on behalf of the former Nobel peace laureate. The foreword quotes Mandela as saying Sassou-Nguesso was one of Africa's great leaders, and that he has worked tirelessly to free oppressed people from their chains. Nothing could be further from the truth.
