Rwanda genocide suspect pleads not guilty

One of Rwanda’s most wanted suspects from the 1994 genocide pleaded not guilty to charges of genocide and crimes against humanity at Tanzania’s International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Idelphonse Nizeyimana, the head of intelligence and military operations at an elite military training school at the time of the killings, is accused of using his knowledge to organise the murder of thousands of people. Some 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus died in the slaughter. Nizeyimana was recently arrested in Uganda and extradited to the tribunal in Arusha.
