In again, out again MDC’s Bennett back to jail in Zimbabwe

The Movement for Democratic Change’s Roy Bennett, who was to become a deputy agricultural minister in Zimbabwe's unity government, has to return to prison until his terrorism trial later this month. Bennett is a white farmer whose land was seized under the country’s notorious farm grabs. He is not a favourite son of Robert Mugabe’s Zanu-PF party, having been jailed in 2004 after a shoving match in parliament during a heated debate about land reform. In 2006 he was accused of being part of an alleged plot to kill Mugabe and escaped to South Africa, saying he feared for his life. He was arrested again in February when his appointment was first made, but released in March.
