Blackmail, beauty queens, typos – it’s all there
Money. Politics. And now, would you believe it, sex. When you mix the volatile cocktail of money and politics, sleaze can never be far behind and so it transpired yesterday in the next exciting instalment of the trial of Jackie Selebi, once known as SA’s police commissioner. And would you have guessed it, Bad Brad Wood is involved too. Key state witness, “businessman” Glenn Agliotti yesterday related, among many, many other things, how he used Selebi to help sort out a “blackmailing” issue involving Jordanian billionaire Eyhab Jumean and former Miss Teen SA Gina Athans, Mrs Jumean at that time. Athans was, inevitably, the ex-girlfriend of Bradford "Bad Brad" Wood who apparently threatened to release a sex tape of himself with Athans unless he was paid R700,000. Wood has denied the claims and yesterday said he would take legal action. All this happened at The Meat Company restaurant in Melrose Arch. But what a meeting; in attendance were Selebi, Jumean, Selebi's secretary and alleged lover Ntombi Matshoba, and Brett Kebble's head of security, Clinton Nassif. All that followed the “typo” issue, now resolved, and the issue of the president’s shoes. The case, as they say, continues – on and on.
