The bones and bucks augur well for Alonso

After a few lean years fortune seems to be smiling on double F1 world champ Fernando Alonso with Ferrari set to announce his move from Renault, where he first won the Formula One World Driver’s Championship. The money will be good too at up to R275-million over a  two-year renewable contract.

In a neat  pas de deux,  Ferrari’s 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen is tipped to move to McLaren, where Alonso won his second F1 driver’s title.

One of the most successful F1 drivers of all time, in 2007 Alonso became the second racer after Michael Schumacher to score 100 points in three consecutive seasons. A move to Ferrari brings down the curtain on Alonso’s relationship with Renault, where he has spent the bulk of his time in F1.
