Arundhati Roy to be charged with sedition, perhaps
The Union Home Ministry has issued the Delhi Police with a sedition case against Indian author and human rights activist Arundhati Roy. At a seminar on Sunday, Roy said that Kashmir had never been a historical part of India, a statement which has raised the Indian government's ire. The police are believed to be considering the ramifications of arresting Roy, who won the 2002 Booker Prize for her novel The God of Small Things, and has published several essay collections.
