Tensions escalating rapidly on Lebanon-Israel border

The Israeli military has continued to uproot trees along the border with Lebanon, an activity which lead to a shoot-out yesterday, with five people dead as a result. Israeli officials have said that if Lebanese forces attack again, they will retaliate. Unifil, a UN organisation that monitors the border, say that the tree that caused yesterday's incident was in Israeli territory. Meanwhile, reporters have found blood stains on the ground near a camouflaged military bunker where the Israeli army claims that a colonel was shot by a sniper yesterday. This marks a serious escalation in tensions between the countries, and another Israeli - Lebanese war may be on the cards. Read more: The Guardian and Reuters
