President Obama to emphasise gravity of oil spill by speaking from Oval Office
US President Barack Obama will make his first speech from the Oval Office - the official office of the president - on Tuesday night. The topic: the oil spill, of course, and the government's plan to compel BP to compensate those affected by it. Obama's schedule is dominated by oil spill damage control this week: on Monday he starts a tour of the gulf states, and on Wednesday he will meet BP executives, including chief Tony Hayward.
